Hi, this is my first Walter Truck-- Fritz. He is a 1957 FEKS from the town of Johnstown NY. Which is about 1.5hr from my home in NY further north.

Fritz is going to be restored over the next couple of years.
It has the classic F model cab which is 72 inches. It has a Waukesha 140GZB engine that makes 188hp at 2600rpm (well it did in 1957-- we will rebuild it and dyno it) with about 420ftlbs to 450ftlbs of torque at about 1000rpm. This is coupled to the Walter Compound 6 speed Tractor Transmission. This means instead of the usual 6 forward and 2 reverse speeds-- this unit has a high-low range giving it 12 forward speeds and 4 reverse speeds. So that is not a common setup for a truck used with a roll-over plow. However this unit has two wings and roll-over and I can only guess that Johnstown's specifically specified this combination to tackle heavy snow and steep grades. The truck has a only ballast weight in the back. I'm not sure if this was factory original or not. It could be. But, I think it originally had ballast box on it. I will return on to the truck. Also the truck has a top speed of 45mph which means this truck has faster differentials than the average Walter model trucks of this size. Which might also explain the compound transmission to ensure that it could handle any grade and condition winter through at her.
F= F Model Cab 72 inch wide
E= Waukesha 140 GZB Model
K= 34,000 Pound Drive Line
S= 138 Inch Wheel Base or Standard
This thread is basically to introduce people to the Wonderful Walter Trucks who might not be as familiar with it. Later on I will put more resources in the Technical Data forum to help to learn more on their own. But always feel free to ask questions or give new information.
